Using Auto-Announce

Last Updated: Feb 02, 2018 12:42PM PST
The Auto-Announce feature is currently under maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are working on a new, improved version to continue to help you announce your shows to the widest audience. We thank you for your patience.

The
Auto-Announce feature generates notifications to your fans through your social network whenever you announce a new concert date and as reminders before or on the date of the event, helping to ensure they never miss any of your shows. You can customize these posts by their frequency and audience to go out on your Facebook, Twitter and/or Tumblr pages.

1. Go to the "Settings" tab in Bandsintown Manager
2. Click on the "Auto-Announce" button
Note: you can also go to the "Events" tab & click on "Auto-Announce Settings"
3. Customize your different announcements (text and toggle)
4. Click "Save"

Note: all Facebook posts are geo-targeted, i.e. they are visible to Facebook users in the same region (for the U.S.) or country (rest of the world) as the event announced.

Connecting Twitter or Tumblr
To send auto-announce posts to Twitter or Tumblr, make sure to connect your accounts: go to Settings » Social Media and turn the Twitter
Connect or Tumblr Connect toggle ON. You will be asked to authenticate and grant sync permissions. Once connected, auto-announce posts will also be sent to these accounts.

Note: Twitter and Tumblr auto-announce posts cannot be customized or geo-targeted.

With Auto-Announce, keep in mind:
--Posts are queued 24 hrs in advance. If you turn one type off but there's already a post scheduled, you may see one more post go out within 24 hrs. Additionally, this means if you enable Auto-Announce, you may not see a post that should go out soon if it's already past the scheduling time.
--The text you put in the boxes for each event will go out with that type of post. Use general text here such as "Aw yeah, tomorrow!" for a "Day Before" post. Don't use anything specific to a date or city.
--On Facebook, hover over the green check mark to the right of each post type to see what's enabled for that post. A grey dash means nothing is enabled.

Types of Auto-Announce posts:
Just Announced: Posted immediately when the event is published or announced after scheduling for later.
Playing Today: Posted the same day as the event.
This Weekend: Posted the Friday before the event.
Next Week: Posted one week before the event.
Next Month: Posted one month before the event.

You can also share your event to your Facebook Timeline without your Auto-Announce posts enabled.

In Bandsintown Manager, click on the "Announce" drop-down next to your event in the tour dates list, then "Share Event". You can select the audience you want to geo-target in the box and write a message to your fans. Click "Publish" to post it to your Facebook Timeline.
